Mtirala National Park is located at 1,761 meters above sea level and occupies 6,000 hectares. The name of the park is translated as “crying” – due to frequent rains and a damp climate. Mtirala is the pride of Adjara. It is not just a park, but also an amazing place in which a tremendous variety of flora and fauna is represented. Here grow ancient Kolkhid’s plants, you can meet wild animals, and in the river Namtsvavistskali, which runs through the mountain slope, there are rare species of fish. The park is called “Georgian jungle” due its impassable paths, waterfalls and clean mountain air. This park was formed in an effort to better conserve the wildlife corridors and habitat that are an essential part of Adjarian ecosystem.
